Doors of insanity1/8/2023 Due to the limited card selection, you’ll run into a lot of the same things. The merchant allows you to get rid of a card, buy new cards, buy new gear, or buy an artifact. Elite, of course, is a monster that is harder and will drop more items for you to select from if beaten. Next, you have the more uncommon ones that are elite, merchant, health, random, and witch. The most common is the normal fight that has some monsters to fight off. There isn’t a lot to choose from or to even unlock, but it does give you some kind of variety. In other situations, you’ll have a chance at artifacts, which are passive abilities that help aid you as you progress. It’s an extra little bit of damage mechanic that plays into some cards. You’ll also get a dice per turn, which will randomly roll 1-6, dealing double damage of the amount if used. With that, the gear selection is a bit lacking, as it feels more like you’re just dressing up your character with random stuff so that they don’t look naked. Currently, there are no set bonuses or any real difference between keeping certain gear on, and it’s mainly equipping what’s better. Such as a weapon only having damage and crit, and armor having health and defense. These stats stay until exchanged for another piece of equipment, with each piece having only a type that correlates. There are currently four base stats gear has that are crit, damage, health, and defense. You could choose a one-handed weapon with a shield, that may or may not give you more stats and two-handed weapons, which usually give you more damage. There are a handful of things you can build onto your character. Depending on what door you pick, it will give you different options when defeating the monsters behind it. After completing a fight, you will have an option to choose from a set of 3 cards to help build your deck up for the next door, or you could skip it entirely if there isn’t something you’re interested in. You’ll have a set amount of mana points to spend and will need to choose cards to use within their costs that suit your current fight. It’s a pretty simple pick between either having more damage cards or more defense cards with maybe an attack buff. After completing that, you’ll get to pick out from a set of starting cards to bring into your run. It’s nothing too in-depth, but it will at least put some personality in who you’re playing. One of the first things you’ll do is customize what your character looks like. There are some RPG elements to it while also having a deck-building aspect. Those doors contain different monsters to fight where you can collect relics, cards, and gear to choose from to build out from while trying to get to the boss at the end of each level. Not entirely sure why rainbows come out of me after I complete a room though, maybe it’s superpowers or something.ĭoors of Insanity is a Roguelike that takes you through, well, doors. When I progress, there are new attacks and skills to learn that can be picked from, and hopefully, this will be enough to defeat the boss in the end. There’s some cool gear here too, I better make sure I’m prepared for the next one. What’s through this door? Oh, some monsters! Well, I guess I better defeat them so I can get out of this crazy place.
